Global Home of Medical Mission (GHOMM) country representative Neneh Freda Gomez has been arrested and taken to Senegambia Police Station.

“We are taken to Senegambia Police Station,” she told this medium

Her arrest is in connection with her reclaiming of a property in Bijilo belonging to the Medical Mission.

In 2019, Global HoMM sued at the Kanifing Magistrate Court reclaiming what it deemed as its rightfully owned property.

The court ordered that Global HoMM shall take possession of the property and the Inspector General of Police, the Director of Lands and Survey, and the Attorney General to pay Global HoMM D50, 000 for general damages for trespass and D25, 000 for the cost of the action.

Concurrent to the judgment, the Kanifing Magistrates Court served the Inspector General of Police, the Director of Lands and Survey, and the Attorney General a writ of possession of the land.

The court ordered these entities of the State to surrender the Bijilo property to Global HOMM, and also wrote to the sheriff to enforce the judgment in 2019.

Nenneh Gomez and Lamin Sey were both arrested after initially attempting to repossess the property with support from the Sheriff’s Office.

The state charged the duo with trespass and idle loitering and changed their charges numerous times, a case which has been superseded by events.

Global Homes decided to take the IGP to court and won on two occasions for their unlawful arrest, and the state is supposed to pay them over D100,000 in fines.

The version of the police would be featured in our subsequent story when reached.
