Momodou Lamin Sima, presidential aspirant for the Alliance of Progressive Citizens (APC), formally submitted his nomination papers to the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) on Tuesday, pledging to prioritize institutional reforms and national development during his first 100 days in office if elected.

Speaking to journalists shortly after submitting his nomination documents, Mr. Sima said his decision to seek the presidency was motivated by a desire to contribute to The Gambia’s development and address longstanding challenges facing the country.

He said an APC administration would initially focus on reforming the country’s statutory framework and establishing the institutional structures necessary to support sustainable development.

According to Mr. Sima, the first 100 days of his presidency would be dedicated to laying the groundwork for implementing the party’s broader development agenda.

He identified job creation as a central priority, arguing that expanding employment opportunities would stimulate economic activity and improve livelihoods.

The APC aspirant also pledged to prioritize key sectors, including healthcare, agriculture, and tourism, which he described as essential to the country’s economic and social development.

“Over the years, we all know the way the system is going. For us, we are development-oriented; our manifesto is development-focused, so when we come, there are areas that we are going to concentrate on,” he said.

Mr. Sima maintained that his party’s policy proposals were designed to address the country’s development needs and provide a framework for economic growth and institutional improvement.

He urged Gambians to examine the APC manifesto, saying it outlines the party’s priorities and proposed solutions to the challenges confronting the nation.

The presidential hopeful expressed confidence in his party’s development agenda as he seeks to secure a place on the ballot for the December 5, 2026, presidential election.
