Yankuba Darboe, the Chairman of Brikama Area Council (BAC), has announced that the council has passed a resolution to initiate legal proceedings against the National Road Authority (NRA) and the Gambia Police Force.
In a Facebook post on Tuesday, the chairman stated, “Brikama Area Council has today passed a resolution to take legal action against the Gambia Police and NRA task force that has deliberately destroyed the shape and structure of our Brikama Central Market, without any legal justification.”
The National Road Authority (NRA), Gambia Police Force, and other stakeholders are currently removing illegal encroachments from roads. However, the Chairman of the Brikama Area Council is unhappy with the destruction caused inside the market.
