GDC Treasurer Says He Will Not Seek Re-election

Mr. Lamin Bojang, Treasurer, of the Gambia Democratic Congress (GDC), will not be seeking re-election at his Party’s upcoming congress. Mr. Bojang announced his intention not to seek reelection on his Facebook page, on Monday, December 5, 2022. “As my beloved party heads into congress on the 24th of this month. I wish to inform my well-wishers, family, friends, and party militants that I will not be contesting for the position of National Treasurer. It is a position I held since the inception of the party on the 11th day of May 2016, and I deem it fit to give the chance to other members who are capable of doing an even greater job than I did.” Mr. Bojang, however, says he remains a loyal member of the GDC and will continue to propagate the Party’s agenda. “I wish to express my profound gratitude to my party leader and all those who supported me during my tenure as the party’s National Treasurer,” he concluded. The outgoing Treasurer joins a list of GDC executives who either withdrew from seeking re-election or outright resigned from their positions. Mr. MC Cham Jr. made a similar decision last month, and the second deputy party leader, Mr. Ahmadou Kah, resigned from his position, on November 30, 2022.
