The National Assembly of The Gambia has announced that its Second Ordinary Session of the 2026 Legislative Year will commence on Monday, June 8, 2026.

According to a press statement issued by the Office of the Clerk on Wednesday, the session will run for one month, ending on Wednesday, July 8, 2026. During this period, lawmakers are expected to consider a wide range of parliamentary and government business.

“The Office of the Clerk of the National Assembly wishes to announce for the information of the general public that the Second Ordinary Session of the National Assembly in the 2026 Legislative Year shall be convened for the period Monday, 08th June – Wednesday, 08th July, 2026,” the statement read.

The Assembly further noted that proceedings will include questions to ministers for oral answers, debate on motions and bills, as well as the presentation of reports from various committees and parliamentary delegations.

“During this period, Hon. Members will consider government business questions to Hon. Ministers for Oral Answers, reports of various committees and parliamentary delegations of the National Assembly, motions, and bills,” the statement added.

The statement also confirmed that daily sittings will begin at 10:00 a.m. sharp, and members of the public wishing to attend will be required to obtain entry clearance from the Office of the Clerk.

“All those who wish to attend the daily sittings are requested to obtain admittance from the Office of the Clerk,” it stated.

In addition, the public has been reminded to adhere to the Assembly’s dress code, which requires either traditional attire or formal suits, and to maintain silence throughout the proceedings.

“The public is reminded to comply with the standard dress code (traditional or suit) required and also to observe the silence rule during proceedings of the session,” the statement concluded.
