The United Democratic Party (UDP) leader thanked President Adama Barrow ‘s government for supporting Banjul Mayor Rohey Malick Lowe win the RAFELA Presidency.

“I also want to appreciate the intervention of the government of the Gambia. It would have not happened, if the President (Barrow) had not given his blessings. We want to say thank you for your support to Rohey in her bid to become President of REFELA Africa,” Darboe said on Saturday at his compound in Pipeline.

Lawyer Ousainu Darboe also thanked the former Vice Presidents- Fatoumata Tambajang and Dr. Isatou Touray for their support in enabling Mayor Lowe’s success in her bid.

“We want to take this opportunity to congratulate some of the women in this country; among them (are) two former Vice Presidents- Fatoumata Tambajang and Isatou Touray for working hand in hand with Rohey Malick Lowe in the attainment of her vision. This is what it should be. We may not belong to the same political party, but we all belong to one nation and that nation is the Gambia. And when the likes of Rohey Malick Lowe is on any enterprise that is for the country; all of us should forget our political toleration and give her the support she deserves,” he said.

He finally congratulated the new REFELA President and the United Democratic Party for the success.

The United Democratic Party leader was speaking to a crowd of jubilant Gambians on Saturday who came out to welcome and cheer the Banjul Mayor Rohey Malick upon her return from Kenya after winning the RAFELA Presidency.
