Thirteen-Year-Old Apprehended With Twenty-Seven Kush Wraps

The Drug Law Enforcement Agency, the Gambia, (DLEAG) has announced the arrest and detention of two Gambian teenagers, seizing a combined total of thirty wraps of Kush in separate incidents in Brusubi and Tallinding.


The agency disclosed that one of the apprehended individuals is a Gambian national aged 13, who was caught in Brusubi Phase II with twenty-seven (27) wraps of Kush. Meanwhile, the other, a 15-year-old Gambian national, was apprehended in Buffer Zone, Tallinding, with three (3) wraps of Kush.



“One of the ACO is a 13-year-old Gambian National who was arrested at Brusubi Phase II with twenty-seven (27) wraps of Kush. The other one is a 15-year-old Gambian national who was arrested at Buffer Zone in Tallinding with three (3) wraps of Kush,” DLEAG said.

These teenagers are among thirty (30) suspects nabbed in connection with twenty (20) cases, with eight (8) cases referred by The Gambia Police Force (GPF).


Of the apprehended suspects, twenty-five (25) are male, with the remaining five (5) being female. Notably, two (2) Alleged Child Offenders (ACOs) were initially arrested by the Anti-Crime Unit of GPF and later transferred to DLEAG’s Gender and Child Welfare Unit for further processing.



“Twenty-five (25) of the suspects are males and the remaining five (5) are females. The male suspects include two (2) Alleged Child Offenders (ACOs) who were arrested by the Anti-Crime Unit of GPF and later handed over to DLEAG’s Gender and Child Welfare Unit for further processing and necessary actions. Similarly, eighteen (18) of them are Gambians, eight (8) Sierra Leoneans, two (2) Senegalese, one (1) Bissau Guinean and one (1) Nigerian,” DLEAG said.

The suspects hail from various nationalities, with eighteen (18) being Gambians, eight (8) Sierra Leoneans, two (2) Senegalese, one (1) Bissau Guinean, and one (1) Nigerian.

Among the female suspects, three (3) are Sierra Leoneans, one (1) is Senegalese, and one (1) is Nigerian. Noteworthy instances include the arrest of three Sierra Leonean women at Coastal Road for joint possession of five (5) medical plastic bags of Kush, two (2) wraps of cannabis sativa, fifty-five (55) sachets of tramadol, and nine (9) bags of ecstasy tablets, totaling ninety (90) pills.

Additionally, a Senegalese woman was apprehended in Banjul alongside two adult male Gambian nationals for possessing ten (10) medical plastic bags of Kush. Moreover, a Nigerian woman was arrested in Brikama Santa-Su alongside an adult male Sierra Leonean national for possession of twenty-five (25) wraps of Kush.


“The Senegalese lady was arrested in Banjul alongside two adult male Gambian nationals for joint possession of ten (10) medical plastic bags of Kush. The Nigerian lady, on the other hand, was arrested at Brikama Santa-Su alongside an adult male Sierra Leonean national for joint possession of twenty-five (25) wraps of Kush,” DLEAG said.
