The Defending Champions, Kani Kunda FC would take on Ngayen Sanjal United in the final of the Sabach Sanjal District tournament at 4pm today in Ngayen.

Kani Kunda who won the title twice in the 2019-2020 and 2020-2021 seasons, who battle to defend their title while the host Ngayen who won it once in 2017 are prepared to clinch their second.

Following kick-off on 13th August between the both teams at the group stages that ended in a 1 all draw, both teams enjoyed success wins before booking their places in the final.

Ngayen defeated Pallen, Kumbija, and Kerr Bamba; while the two times Champions, Kani Kunda defeated Kumbija, Sarra kunda and were awarded maximum points in their fixture against Pallen, following the latter’swithdrawal.

A local football writer and analyst in the district, Lamin Manneh Jr, alias AL Amain Justice has been covering the tournament from the onset.

“Regarding the finalists, this is the first time of them meeting at the apex of the tournament in the history of the district’s football. Both teams have raw talents who are ready to unlock their potentials, which shows that the final will be a scintillating and mouth-watering encounter. Going via statistics, this year by which Ngayen won this said tournament was great, as they didn’t taste any defeat.

Kani Kunda on the other hand won it twice, but in the first one, Ngayen didn’t participate in the tournament. They are the powerhouse when it comes to football in the district. I know both teams are not pushovers.

So, it will be a well contested final, but comparing the two teams, Ngayen Sanjal Utd’s current team have an edge over Kani Kunda when it comes to their attacking force, as they already set a record as the first team to bag 15 goals in a district tournament. So, this tells you that the Kani Kunda FC defence line needs to be vigilant in order to avoid any damage from the opponent’s clinical attack.

Kani Kunda also are a team that will not be ruled out because they have the experience and the know-how to play a final, after winning it twice consecutively; they have players who are very mature and that maturity will surely play a part, if they are to win this final,” he told Kerr Fatou in his pre-match analysis.
