OMCs Suspends Planned Strike Pending Outcome Of Engagements

The Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) have announced the suspension of their planned strike, pending the outcome of their engagements with the relevant authorities.

“…OMCs wishes to inform the General public that following our meeting with the Vice President at his request, together with other cabinet members and officials; the suspension of our operations scheduled for Monday, 17th October 2022 is hereby deferred, pending the outcome of the engagements and consultations ensuing between the OMCs and the relevant authorities.

“We will continue to endeavour, despite the serious challenges we are facing in our sector. Whilst at the same time hoping to reach a middle ground with the government” Momodou Hydara, the Managing Director of Jah Oil Company and representative of OMCs said in an audio obtained by this medium. 

He urged the public not to panic, while the matter is being resolved within the ‘short possible period’.

Prior to this development, the OMCs earlier this week, announced that they would embark on a strike on Monday, 17th October 2022.
