A delegation of Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Gambia Secretariat and the Ministry of Works, Transport and Infrastructure on Saturday visited the VVIP Airport Lounge at the Banjul International Airport and the 22km Bartil Harding road projects.

The visit was aimed at assessing the development and progress of work at the two sites.

Speaking to the journalists, Minister of Works, Ebrima Sillah, expressed hope that the project would be completed by December this year.

“We are hopeful that by the end of December (2022), this project will be completed and ready to be handed over to the Government. This is very critical to the overall initiative of the Government to host the OIC summit,” he said.

CEO of OIC Gambia Secretariat, Yankuba Dibba, said the project is making them proud as it’s going to be the first project they would complete by the end of the year.

The Managing Director, National Roads Authority, Momodou Senghore, said building a six-lane dual carriage would really go a long way in easing the movement of traffic.

The AREZKI Manager for the VVIP Lounge project, Ayman Marsoui, said 65% work have already been done within the materials delivered.

Structural Engineer, Saudi consultant Gamtech JV and Consulting Engineer for the 22KM road project, Ebrima Cham said they are making good progress in terms of work.

“We will have an important bridge here, which is currently under construction. The pilling work has been done, which is an important part of the foundation,” he said.

Cham said that the project would be completed early next year, saying two teams are doing the construction- one at the coastal road and the other at the Turntable in Brusubi.
