Saihou Jawara, the incumbent chairman of the Central River Region (CRR) and the National People’s Party (NPP) candidate for the upcoming Local Government Elections in CRR, has warned that his region is a “no-go area” for opposition parties.

“We have been nominated at the IEC and all our documents presented there are cross-checked by the returning officer of the IEC. This has clearly manifested that step one has been done. Now we are heading for the election and the campaign will start on the 6th. Everybody knows that CRR North is in the hands of the NPP, and I can assure the whole Gambia we will win a massive victory and is going to be history in this country. I can tell you that CRR North is a no-go area for another political party apart from NPP,” he told Kerr Fatou after his nomination.

As the incumbent, Mr. Jawara said he is the most popular candidate in CRR.

“I am the most popular candidate in this election. I will win because of the trust that people have in me and the development that we started making. Since 1963, the Area Council was established, they have never been drilling boreholes when I came with my four years, our priority number one across the region was one. I was able to achieve at least forty percent of the needs of the people and sixty percent will be completed in my next term,” he said.

Saihou Jawara, the incumbent chairman, will be battling with the opposition United Democratic Party (UDP) candidate in the upcoming Local Government Elections.
