NAM Marong Urges Government To Solve KM Water Shortage
By Ramatoulie Jawo
The National Assembly Member (NAM) for LatriKunda Sabiji, Hon. Saikou Marong urged the government to provide a lasting solution to the water shortage in the Kanifing Municipality (KM).
“It highly time for the government to come up with a Plan B, because if the one we are having is not working and cannot solve the water problem in KM because you talk to some people they will tell you ‘it’s been days we don’t see a drop of water from our tap’ that is sad,” he said.
Speaking at the parliament on Monday, Hon. Marong informed that many women in the area get water late at night, which has been going on for two to three years now without remedy.
“The people of KM cannot live without water and it’s not only affecting the people of Latri Kunda Sabiji but the surrounding villages also because of the low pressure from these taps, making the women to wait for long hours to get water,” the NAM, LatriKunda Sabiji added.
Hon. Marong made these remarks at the National Assembly complex in Banjul during the last session of the Fifth Legislature on Monday.
