Madi Jobarteh and Others to Petition National Assembly Over State Land Allocations

Tomorrow, Wednesday September 11, Baboucarr Nyang, Omar Camara and Madi Jobarteh will submit a petition to the Clerk of the National Assembly on the, ‘ALLOCATION OF STATE LANDS TO STATE AND NON-STATE OFFICIALS, INDIVIDUALS, ORGANIZATIONS AND BUSINESSES BETWEEN 19 JANUARY 2017 TO 31 DECEMBER 2023’.
We wish to request the Public Petitions Committee to consider our petition to open an inquiry on the matter to ensure that these land allocations followed the rule of law and ethical standards. We are submitting the petition in our drive to ensure transparency and accountability in the conduct of public affairs and the management of public resources. We hope the Public Petitions Committee will find our petition fit and admissible.
Soon after submitting the petition we will host a press conference at the TANGO headquarters in Fajara at 12 noon sharp (No Gambian Time) to share details of our petition with the general public. We invite all journalists and media houses to the press conference.
The dream of a Better Gambia that we deserve rests on the role citizens play to ensure that the principles of democratic governance, human rights and the rule of law are respected and upheld by public institutions and officials at all times. We urge all citizens to undertake all legal, democratic, and peaceful means to fully and actively participate in the governance and development of our dear motherland.
