Barrow Campaigns on Continuity, Warns Kaur Wharf Voters Against Vote-Buying

President Adama Barrow has cast the 2026 presidential election as a choice between continuing his government’s development agenda and changing course, urging voters in Kaur Wharf Town to reject attempts to influence their votes with cash or gifts.
Speaking during his ongoing Meet-the-People Tour, Mr. Barrow said he believed Gambians would favor continuity rather than what he described as starting over under a new administration.
The president urged residents to support his coalition if they wanted further improvements in electricity access and road infrastructure, arguing that voting against his government could jeopardize the continuation of those projects.
“We must be mindful of this election,” Mr. Barrow said. “There are people who want to change your minds. They will come and give you D500, D1,000, or D1,500, or give a motorbike to one person in your community, ready to buy you off. I do not think you will allow that.”
Mr. Barrow urged residents not to allow money or gifts to determine their votes, telling them instead to demand tangible development projects, including roads.
He also assured residents of Kaur Wharf Town that workers would soon be deployed to the community to expand electricity access and construct roads.
The remarks come as Mr. Barrow increasingly emphasizes his administration’s development record while seeking support ahead of the 2026 presidential election.
