Independent candidate for the upcoming Brikama Area Council (BAC) chairman elections, Ahmed Gitteh has revealed that he was offered the position of Director General of the Gambia Radio and Television Services after the National People’s Party (NPP) primary brouhaha

“If you sack Jallow (the vice president) and asked me to come and leave this position, I will not. They have started coming to me to talk about positions after the primary. They have talked to me about positions, in-fact Director General of GRTS position, Ambassadorial, whatever. Somebody comes to tell me in fact Ministerial position,” Gitteh told Kerr Fatou on Thursday.

The Independent candidate says he is not interested in any position they offered him, questioning why the president didn’t appoint him before the Brikama Area Council primary saga;

“I was here in September 2021, the election was in December. I resigned from my job and left my family. I have been here for six solid months to make sure our party gets into office and that is not news to anybody in this country. It’s one year and three months since Barrow reassumed office as an elected president. If these people were ever interested in including Gitteh in nation-building, they could have earlier.

“They have appointed so many people that I have a better contribution to the party than those. And there are people who are given positions that I have better qualifications than. I have a lot more energy and I have a lot more perhaps records publicly in terms of contributing to the well-being of this country than those people. Why did they not give me a job for one year three months if they ever had any interest?” Gitteh asked.

Ahmed Gitteh made these remarks while speaking to Fatou Touray on her weekly Thursday show, Kerr Fatou.
