While the smoke has cleared after a truck fire in Brikama, the cause of the blaze remains shrouded in mystery. Thankfully, both the police and Gambia Fire and Rescue Services (GFRS) confirmed to Kerr Fatou that there were no casualties in the incident.

GFRS Divisional Officer Pateh Gibba emphasized the importance of patience during investigations and stated, “All we can confirm at the moment is that there have been no casualties. I am currently at the scene to investigate the cause of the fire. However, it’s important to note that during firefighting operations and while investigating the cause of a fire, premature information may result in inaccuracies. We need to allow time for the operation to conclude before discussing the cause. The firefighting efforts are ongoing, and we cannot speculate on the cause until the operation is complete.”

Echoing this sentiment, Police Public Relations Officer ASP Binta Njie Jatta added, “While there have been no casualties, the cause of the fire has not yet been established.”

Both agencies are actively working to uncover the cause of the fire, employing their combined expertise to piece together the events that led to this incident. As the investigation progresses, further information will be released to the public.
