Hon. Almameh Gibba, the current National Assembly Member (NAM) for Foni Kansala, has publicly accused his predecessor, Amul Nyassi, of betraying the people of the constituency and failing to account for the use of constituency development funds during his tenure.

Speaking in a recent interview, Hon. Gibba alleged that Nyassi abandoned the people of Foni Kansala by aligning with President Adama Barrow and has consistently avoided providing explanations regarding the development funds allocated to the constituency.

“I am here to clarify what Musa Amul Nyassi, the former betrayer and former runaway National Assembly Member for Foni Kansala, I heard what he said in their meeting in Kampant. Instead of informing people what he is doing and the failure he did for the people of Foni Kansala and the lack of trust by betraying them and joining President Adama Barrow,” he said.

Rejecting Nyassi’s proposal for a debate on Bwiam Radio, Hon. Gibba challenged him instead to engage in a public debate on major national media platforms.

“I, Honorable Almameh Gibba, do not make allegations or accuse people. Amul challenges me for a debate at Bwiam Radio, which is not always operating, but I challenge him for a debate in other big media houses. The people of Foni Kansala do not need him now; he is the one forcing himself. I stood for Amul when he was contesting in the Foni Kansala election,” he said.

Hon. Gibba further explained that he had previously urged the people of Foni Kansala to question Nyassi about the use of constituency development funds, as no tangible development projects were evident during his time in office. He noted that despite raising these concerns since 2022, Nyassi remained silent until recently.

“He has not responded to me since 2022, and after that I never mentioned it again. Last week he was saying that I accused him. I did not accuse him; I want him to come clear himself,” he said.

He added that, “He did not respond in 2022, 2023, or 2024; he chose to respond in 2025. That shows that there is no honesty. He uses funds that he did not want to be accounted for. The debate that he is calling for, I am ready for it, and I will undress him raw to show that he is nothing,” he said.

Hon. Gibba also invited Nyassi to appear on a constituency talk show, where he would have to answer directly to the people of Foni Kansala about his development record.

“I am calling him on a constituency talk show to face the people of Foni Kansala and discuss. He also says that, I promise to bring Jammeh after 3 months. In my campaign promise I said that any help that I can bring to the people of Foni Kansala I will try my best to do, either from the government, NGOs, or others,” he said.

He added that his campaign commitments included respecting the two-term limit, unless the people of Foni Kansala requested him to seek re-election.

“I also said that I will respect that two-term limit unless the people want me to contest again. I also say that I will not stop fighting the issues of Jammeh, but I never said that if you vote for me, I will bring back Jammeh,” he said.

In closing, Hon. Gibba challenged Nyassi to present tangible evidence of any significant development he initiated during his tenure as deputy governor, minister, and National Assembly member. “Amul Nyassi, you were the deputy governor here, you were a minister, and you have been a National Assembly member for five years. Tell me the development you have brought to the people of Foni Kansala and you have betrayed the people of Foni Kansala by joining President Barrow,” he said.

He also highlighted his own development initiatives in the constituency and dismissed Nyassi’s relevance with a sharp rebuke.

“Amul, you are a tissue paper for me, and I want to invite you to a constituency Bantaba Talk show with all the people of Foni Kansala and answer questions from them,” he said.
