KERR FATOU REPORTER BAGS DOUBLE AT NATIONAL JOURNALISM AWARDS
A senior reporter for Kerr Fatou, Mustapha K. Darboe, has won a double in the Gambia Press Union 2017 journalism awards.
Darboe was announced the best in both the children reporting category and the best features at GPU’s 3rd National Journalism Award held at the Djembeh Hotel on Friday.
This is the fourth award Darboe has won in 3 years. He won the features category for the first year 2015 and human rights category for the second year 2016.
Darboe who recently authored a book Playbook of a Tyrant on country’s former dictator is the only journalists to have won two categories at a single awards night alone.
Ebrima Baldeh of Gambia Radio and Television Services has won two categories last year but his second one was jointly won with a colleague.
“It is an honour to have won the awards… It is an encouragement for anyone of us to do better in this trade we all cherish,” Darboe told Kerr Fatou.
Darboe praised the GPU outgoing president Bai Emil Touray for his efforts in the development of journalism in the country.
“Each year, there is an improvement,” Darboe said.
