The Point Newspaper journalist Maimuna Sey Jawo has passed away on Saturday night after a brief illness.

Maimuna was married to senior journalist Momodou Jawo who also works at the Point Newspaper.

“With a heavy heart, I extend my deepest condolences to her husband Momodou Jawo on the sad demise of a loving wife. My thoughts and prayer are with Mr. Jawo and the family, and the Point Newspaper colleagues in their moment of profound grief on the tragic loss of a co-worker. Maimuna was a good and wonderful mother. May the two beautiful kids she had with Jawo grow up and make their mother so proud from heaven someday. May Allah have mercy on Maimuna’s beautiful soul and grant her an eternal rest in Jannatul firdaus and all the departed souls. Oh life,” journalist Lamin Drammeh posted on Facebook.

Another journalist Suma W. Jadama reacted: “One of our hardworking and highly disciplined colleague Maimuna Sey Jawo has fallen. She was a good Journalist , mother and hard-working Muslim par excellence. Few days ago Maimuna was part of those mourning the solemn demise of our departed colleagues Koto Pa Modou Faal and Musa Ndow of blessed memory and today Maimuna herself joined them in the longest journey until God knows. I pray for Allah to overlooked her shortcomings and grant her a house in Jannatul Firdaus.”

“Inna Lillahi Wa’Inna Ilaihi Ra’Jiun. I can’t believe that you’re gone for ever Maimuna Sey Jawo. Just a week ago you were with us mourning the demise of our colleagues and now….. Oh God! This is yet another reminder of Allah’s might that we all shall follow one by one… I’m feeling terrible. May Allah grant you Jannah. Brother Momodou Jawo please take heart. It’s never easy to loose a loved one. Maimuna is indeed a great Muslim, a friend, wife and sister all in one soul. Until we meet again, sleep in peace dear,” Amadou O. Bah also mourned the fallen journalist.

Maimuna’s death came after two other journalists working for the ministry of health died in a car crash in the Lower River Region last week.
