Scene of the fire in Tallinding

An Eyewitness has confirmed to Kerr Fatou that a gas explosion has in the early hours of Monday, April 10, 2023, ravaged an entire compound in Tallinding, Kanifing Municipality.
“The compound is Bajaha Kunda in Tallinding. It is located just behind the market. One of the children was cooking with a gas. Oil spilled from the pan onto the gas fire, and the flame increased and got out of control. He was supposed to use sand to put it out, but instead he uses water, which led to the explosion of the gas. We called the fire service, but they were not able to get to the scene on time. They arrived one hour after the call for help was placed. The entire compound was burnt to ashes,” an eyewitness told Kerr Fatou on Monday.
We are not able to establish the Value of properties lost in the fire, but the eyewitness said neighbors were not able to rescue anything from the inferno that engulf the compound and consumed all their belongings.
