GAMBIA LEADS BURKINA IN BRUISING TIE- BREAKER
Adama Tamba’s opener and an own goal initially looked to have settled the final leg of the Women’s Cup of nations qualifier against Burkina but at half time the girls from Ouagadougou fought back to level the aggregate score 2-1 at full time.
The visitors’ mesmerizing performance that could have seen them handsomely beat our Girls in the second half kept the crowd on the edge and in deep apprehension. The gloomy prospect of going out in front of the home crowd was too much to bear. In the end The Gambia survived and regrouped to eliminate Burkina 5-4 on penalties. The Girls now progressed to meet Nigeria in the next round.

Last night echoes were repeated about how the Girls have wiped tears of the hungry Gambian fans.
The girls have proven to be worthy ambassadors.
