Former National Assembly Member (NAM) representing Niamina East, Hon. Omar Ceesay, has strongly criticized his successor, Dawda Jeng, for his perceived lack of contribution during parliamentary sessions.
“Hon. Dawda Jeng Is A Sitting Member Of Parliament Who Was elected In The Last Legislative Election To Be The Mouthpiece Of The Aforementioned constituency Under The Ticket Of NPP. Guest What! The Said NAM Had Never Contributed To Any Debate Before The Floor Of The House Or spelled Out The Need And Suffering Of His People. Does The Niamina East Constituency Deserve Such An MP? Where Did We Get It Wrong?” he asked.
Ceesay revealed that despite invitations from constituents for face-to-face discussions, Jeng declined due to his purported inability to speak in public.
Furthermore, he highlighted Jeng’s reluctance to engage with media outlets such as Kerr Fatou and Taranga FM, which could provide platforms for advocating for the constituency’s concerns.
“In The Same Vein, He Continues To Turn Down Various Media House invitations, Such As Kerr Fatou, Taranga FM, etc Where He Could Further Advance And Advocate For The Concerns Of His People In Such Platforms But To No Avail. Again, The So-Called MP Is Deputizing A Particular Committee In The National Assembly, But He Normally Sneaks Away From Meetings If The Chairman Of The Committee Is Said To Be Absent,” he said.
The former MP expressed his disappointment in Jeng’s performance, describing it as “shameful” and a letdown to the people of Niamina East.
Ceesay went on to criticized what he called the NPP’s prioritization of quantity over quality in selecting representatives.
“NPP Is Usually Choosing Quantity Instead of Quality, And Many Of Dawda’s Element Are Present In That House,” he concluded.
