Barrow Urges Leaders To Preach Peace Ahead Of December Election

Adama Barrow
President of The Republic of The Gambia

President Adama Barrow has urged all categories of leaders to preach peace in the build up to the December 4 presidential election.

“As we prepare for the December Presidential election, it rests on all categories of leaders and influential persons, especially those belonging to the political parties, to preach peace and stability for another cycle of free, fair and transparent elections. Let the Gambian citizens be allowed to vote for the candidates of their choice without pressure or hindrance,” the head of state said.

The President made the remarks at the Parliament on Thursday during his State of The Nation Address to the third ordinary session of the house in Banjul.

Section 77 (1) of the 1997 Constitution empowers the President of the Republic to attend the sitting of the National Assembly to deliver his State of the Nation Address (SoNA), annually.

The address focuses on the condition and the administration of the country, as well as the policies of the Government.

Barrow’s 2021 State of The Nation Address touched on a wide range of issues, including finance and economic affairs, health, agriculture, security etc.
