President Adama Barrow has departed Banjul for a nationwide development tour focused on health and road infrastructure, with plans to inaugurate new facilities, inspect agricultural projects, and launch additional development initiatives across the country.

Speaking aboard the ferry at the start of the tour, President Barrow said the exercise would allow his administration to advance ongoing projects while initiating new ones aimed at expanding public services and improving infrastructure.

“This is a development tour; it is very important for us to continue with our projects. No infrastructure, no development,” Barrow said.

The president said his government remains focused on developing essential infrastructure, including roads, electricity, and water systems, while noting that health and road projects would be at the center of the current tour.

Barrow said improved road networks could reduce transportation costs, strengthen trade, enhance security, and improve the daily lives of Gambians by making communities and essential services more accessible.

He described infrastructure as critical to connectivity and economic development and said his administration would continue investing in projects intended to improve living conditions across the country.

According to State House, the president is expected to inaugurate new health posts and other medical facilities designed to expand access to primary healthcare as well as maternal and child health services in underserved communities.

The tour will also include the inauguration of newly constructed and rehabilitated roads intended to improve connectivity and access to markets, schools, and health facilities.

Barrow is also expected to visit agricultural projects being implemented under government flagship programs aimed at strengthening food security and supporting the agricultural sector. He will also lay foundation stones for new development projects in several communities.

State House said the nationwide tour reflects the administration’s commitment to implementing development projects across the country and ensuring that government investments reach communities in every region.
