Sulayman Dampha, a member of All Badibou UDP and also the United Democratic Party Bundung Constituency PRO, has conveyed his disappointment regarding the decision of former UDP campaign manager, Momodou Sabally, to join the NPP. Dampha remarked that Sabally did not inform them about his move.

“Some politicians reverse their positions, going back on their words. While we can’t prevent Sabally from moving to the NPP, it amounts to a significant betrayal in the realm of politics. I want to remind him that UDP had strong foundations even before his involvement, and those foundations have endured. Many have tried to undermine the party, including instances where Lawyer Ousainu Darboe and his team faced adversity during their stay in Fass Njaga Choi. Similar challenges occurred in Saro.

“Prior to the 2016 presidential election, Solo Sandeng was tragically killed, and party leaders, including the party head, were unjustly imprisoned. Despite these hardships, President Barrow attempted to form his political party with the aim of destabilizing the UDP, but he failed. Eight of our national assembly members defected to the NPP; our national president, Dembo By Force, left the party, and our KMC regional chairman, Unda Nyang, departed. Karamo Jadama also left, yet the UDP stands strong. Sabally’s move to the NPP will not weaken the party in any manner,” he emphasized.

Mr. Dampha also reminded Sabally that the governance issues he once criticized persist, citing a lack of youth employment.

“I urge the youth to turn away from Sabally and the NPP because many young lives are lost through perilous journeys, some face deportation, and there is a scarcity of youth employment. The education and health systems continue to falter. Instead of addressing these crucial problems, the government is solely focused on luring individuals away from UDP by spending money. They aren’t addressing the real issues. Hence, I call on all the youth in the country to distance themselves from Sabally and the NPP. ‘All Badibou UDP’ is profoundly disappointed in Sabally for not informing us about his decision, especially considering our shared history,” he remarked.

Sulayman Dampha also cautioned Sabally against attacking the UDP, asserting that they would respond in kind if provoked.
