The United Democratic Party [UDP] expressed total satisfaction with the outcome of the police Investigation which exonerated the party from the allegation that its supporters attacked one Ousman Camara, recently.

“UDP is satisfied that the Police investigations established the facts in this unfortunate incident. Members of the UDP are peaceful and law abiding citizens,” said UDP spokesperson, Almameh Fanding Taal.

He urged UDP supporters to continue to be measured and responsible in their comments, support and advocacy for the party.

Taal appealed to media community to continue doing its job with professional rigour and to verify facts and information before attribution, saying “not everyone claiming to be member of UDP, is a member of the UDP”; after a local media reported, “UDP Mob allegedly attacked” Camara. But the investigation didn’t state that Ousman was  attacked by UDP Supporters.

The UDP spokesperson’s reaction followed the release of the police investigation report which detailed that Ousman Camara, the Sierra Leonean national who was reported to have been attacked by its sympathisers, was counter-assaulted by one Dominic Mendy and Abdourahman Sey, after he (Ousman) assaulted a lady.

“Further investigations into the matter revealed that, Ousman Camara assaulted a lady in the name of Fatou Badjie, which resulted to his attack by Dominic Mendy and Abdourahman Sey,” the investigation stated.

Days ago, a video of the attack went viral on social media and a local media blamed the incident on the party; contrary to the investigation report.

According to the report, the investigation started after Ousman Camara was invited and interviewed by the police; then taken for medical examination where he was treated and discharged for the injury sustained from the attack.

Accordingly, the document informed that Ousman, Dominic Mendy and Abdourahman Sey are all charged, and appropriate actions will follow.
