The United Democratic Party is shocked and deeply saddened to learn of the tragic incident involving the shooting of Police Officers on Tuesday evening 12th September 2023 around the Sukuta-Jabang Highway. UDP notes with grave alarm the spate of violent crimes in the Gambia which is cause for concern for all Gambians and every effort must be made to apprehend the culprits.
On behalf the National Executive Committee, the Central Committee and on my own behalf we express our deepest condolences for the great loss of lives and pray for a speedy and full recovery for the Officer hospitalised.
We extend our heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families, the Inspector General of Police, the women, and men in uniform and to all Gambians. We pray that all those who mourn are comforted by almighty Allah, the most merciful, and the beneficent.
At this grim time for the bereaved families our thoughts and prayers are with their relatives and their friends. May they be granted the fortitude to bear this great loss. May Allah grant their souls and the souls of all the dearly departed Al Jannatul Firdawsi.
