TRRC Report: Madi Suggests Immediate Removal of Officers Mentioned

Human rights activist Madi Jobarteh has suggested the immediate removal from public service to face justice, of all officers mentioned in connection to human rights violation in the TRRC report.
“All officers mentioned in the TRRC report for violating human rights should be interdicted ASAP. These officers owe it to themselves to also challenge the allegations. Until then, they should be removed from public service to face justice,” Mr Joberteh said
Government yesterday made the TRRC report public, after the submission of the report to Barrow in November. One of the officers mentioned is Ousman Sowe, the current Director of National Intelligence Agency (NIA). The Commission has found Sowe responsible for the destruction and concealment of evidence at the NIA and recommended him be banned from holding public office for at least 10 years.
Other officers and heads of the security agencies like Baboucarr Jatta (Fmr. Chief of Defence Staff); Ousman Badjie (Fmr. Minister of Interior); Baboucarr Sowe (Fmr. Crime Management Coordinator of the Police); Momodou Ceesay of the PIU; Abdou Njie (Giri); Gorgui Mboob; Inspector Darboe; Modou Lamin Fatty; Abdoulie Bah; Modou Cham; Modou Gajaga; Cpl Lamin Camara; Capt. Wassa Camara are held responsible for the killings of the 17 civilians on April 10 and 11, student demonstration in 2000.
