The Supreme Islamic Council (SIC) has urged Muslims to sight the crescent moon in the evening for the observance of the Eid-ul-fitr locally referred to as ‘Koriteh’.

“The Council urges all Muslims to carefully sight the Crescent Moon and inform the Council or its regional representatives/committee heads of any information about the Crescent Moon,” SIC announced.

“We ask Allah (Subhaanahu Wa Ta’aalaa) to accept all our Ibaadaat (acts of worship) during the blessed month. May HE [Almighty God] continue to guide and protect us all from all evils and evil-doers,” the council wished the Muslims.

Ramadan began on 13th April. It lasts for either 29 or 30 days. Tuesday [today] marks the 29th day, while Wednesday (tomorrow) will mark the 3oth day.

Therefore, the feast would either be observed on Wednesday,  if the crescent moon is sighted today; or on Thursday, if it is not sighted today, after 30 days.
