‘Gambia For 5 Years and Peace Building, a counter group to ‘3 years Jotna’ has joined the United Democratic Party (UDP) on Monday.

The group was formed in support of President Barrow’s decision to serve the Constitution five year mandate instead of 3 years as enshrined in the embattled Coalition 2016 manifesto.

On their reason to join the party, the group leader Abdou Willan said President Adama Barrow is not taking the right direction prompting their switch to UDP.

“The person that you stand for to be on the right path, if that person chooses to be on the wrong path, and you follow him the relationship will not end well. That is the reason I changed my loyalty from President Barrow’s Government. I have never registered in any Political Party, but today I’m a member of the United Democratic Party,” he declared.

Also speaking, Omar Sanyang the National President of Gambia for Five Years and Peace Building said that all the youth in the group are to follow him to UDP.

“All of you youth behind me are ready to join UDP. I’m telling you thousands of youth will queue here to join UDP,” he said.

Both United Democratic Party leader Ousainu Darboe and Momodou Sabally welcomed members of Gambia for Five Years and Peace Building to UDP.

“Welcome to the United Democratic Party. I know they will say we give you money to join us. But if they tell you that just respond by saying we are not like them,” Darboe said.

“All the bright youth will one day join the UDP. So, welcome you to the party,” Sabally welcomed.
