Regional Governors Redeployed
By Fatou Touray
Reliable sources have informed Kerr Fatou that all Governors and their deputies in the Provincial Regions have been reassigned to different roles within the civil service.
According to these sources, the Governors have been replaced by Deputy Permanent Secretaries from various ministries. The Deputy Governors have been moved to new positions within the Ministry of Lands.
In the Central River Region, Musa Mbye, previously the Deputy Permanent Secretary (DPS) at the Ministry of Sports, has been appointed as the new Governor. Abdoulie Kah, formerly the DPS at the Ministry of Defense, is now the Governor of the Upper River Region. Seedy Lamin Bah, the former Governor of the Lower River Region, has been reassigned to the Ministry of Sports, although his replacement has not yet been announced.
In the North Bank Region, Fatou Touray Jammeh, previously the DPS at the Ministry of Agriculture, has been named the new Governor, succeeding Lamin Saidykhan, who has taken on the role of Deputy Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Agriculture.
Governor Ousman Bojang of the West Coast Region has been reassigned to the Ministry of Lands, but his replacement has not been disclosed.
Details regarding the new assignments of the Deputy Governors in the affected regions are currently unavailable.
This reshuffling follows a court case filed by the opposition United Democratic Party, which challenges the constitutionality of the appointment of Governors and Deputy Governors. It remains unclear whether these redeployments are related to the ongoing legal proceedings.
