‘Public enterprises not complying with PEC’

17

The Public Enterprises Committee (PEC) of the National Assembly has said on Monday that institutions are not complying with their approved schedules.

PEC is the National Assembly body responsible for scrutinizing public enterprises but the institutions said their requests are often deferred to a farther date.

The main excuses being that their Board Chairpersons/Managing Directors have travelled and have not signed their reports,” the PEC stated.

Below is the rest of the statement:

PEC hereby reminds all PEs/Agencies that Institutions are beyond individuals and matters should not be on hold because the Managing Director or Board Chairperson is not in office.

The Committee wishes to inform Board and Management of all Public Enterprises and Agencies that the Committee will strictly abide by the approved revised schedule and will not allow excuses for deferrals from any PEs/Agencies.

The Committee will not hesitate to assert its authority as per section 109, (b) and section 110 of the 1997 Constitution of the Republic of the Gambia to enforce compliance.

The Committee solicits the cooperation of all PEs/Agencies to submit their pending reports and appear before the Committee on the schedule dates in order to clear the backlog.

A.g. Chairperson – PEC
