By Fatou Sillah

Modou Sabally, the former campaign manager of the United Democratic Party (UDP) who recently joined President Adama Barrow’s National People’s Party (NPP), characterized the president as a leader endowed with patience and tolerance.

Sabally expressed admiration for President Barrow’s qualities, emphasizing that his patient and tolerant demeanour is crucial in the challenging realm of politics.

“I appreciate President Barrow for his patience and tolerance. In the realm of politics, it’s a demanding arena, and our words carry weight. If President Barrow were different, the dynamics would be difficult. I am open to collaborating with anyone to ensure our collective success. While I held the title of campaign manager at the UDP, I now stand as a member. Nevertheless, I am committed to empowering the current campaign manager to ensure their success,” Sabally stated.

Sabally pledged to contribute to the expansion of the NPP’s influence, saying, “I am dedicated to empowering the NPP to attract a broader segment of the Gambian population. Recognizing my limitations in power and knowledge, I rely on what God has bestowed upon me. I am confident that, with divine assistance, more individuals will join the NPP before this interview concludes, and I am grateful for that.”

Furthermore, Sabally affirmed his commitment to collaboration within the NPP, particularly with seasoned political figures like Dou Sannoh and Lamin Cham. Acknowledging their expertise in politics, he expressed his intent to seek their advice and guidance to draw more individuals into the NPP. Sabally believes that this inclusive approach will significantly contribute to greater reconciliation in the country.

These statements were made by Sabally during his official membership introduction to the National People’s Party at the State House.
