The National Assembly on Thursday adjourned its sitting after failing to meet the required quorum to conduct the day’s business.

Deputy Speaker Seedy S.K. Njie told lawmakers that a significant number of National Assembly members were absent because they were attending official assignments within The Gambia and abroad.

“I am informed that we lack quorum to proceed with today’s business, with the fact that most of our members are on very important national assignments, either within the country or outside The Gambia,” Njie said.

He said the assembly could not proceed without the minimum number of members required to constitute a quorum.

According to the deputy speaker, the Assembly’s leadership had agreed to postpone the sitting until Monday, Sept. 21, 2026.

Njie subsequently adjourned the sitting until 10 a.m. on Monday.
