IEC registers new political party

The Independent Electoral Commission [IEC] has today duly registered Democratic Party as the newest political party in the country, in accordance with Section 105 of the Elections Act 2009, (as amended), IEC released stated.

Other particulars of the party are as followed:
• The Secretary General: Yusupha Dumbuya
• Party secretariat: Brikama, West Coast region
• Party Acronym: DP
• Party Colour: Light Blue and Black
• Party Symbol: Torch light;
• Party Moto: Awakening Gambia
•
This takes the number of registered political parties to 17 in the Gambia.
