Ibrahim JS Sanneh the APRC ‘No To Alliance’ candidate for the upcoming Brikama Area Council Chairmanship election, says his number one priority if elected as BAC Chairman will be youth Empowerment.

“My top priority will be youth, I will focus on youth empowerment because I am a youth and also to bring unity, diversity, equality and also development. It is obvious that you cannot achieve development when there is no peace, unity and equity.  We have to unite as one to see that we are the people of the west coast Region,” he said.

Officials of the independent Electoral Commission have asked the candidate to submit a leave letter from his employer, the ministry of Foreign Affairs, when he presented himself for nomination on Tuesday. He was given until 4pm Wednesday to submit his leave letter. 

This Medium was reliably informed on Wednesday afternoon that he had eventually submitted his leave letter on Wednesday morning.

When asked about the issue of his leave letter, Ibrahim JS Sanneh, who works for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said he was not concentrating on it because he had other issues he was working on.

“Actually, I started the process to obtain a leave letter since two weeks ago, but then I was not concentrating on it because I was busy with other engagements. For that been the case, it was delayed, but InSha’Allah I will bring it

“This is a Legal requirement, and I must bring a leave letter for them to proceed with my nomination. What I can tell my supporters is for them to be patient, this is an issue that can be resolved,” he said.

 The issue has since been resolved and Ibrahim Sanneh’s nomination has been accepted by the IEC as we go to press.

We have been informed by the spokesperson for The APRC ‘No To Alliance’, Pa Modou Mbowe, that Bakary Saibou Sanneh who was also nominated by No To Alliance for BAC chairperson will withdraw his nomination in favour of Ibrahim JS Sanneh is not accepted by the IEC. 

The Chairmanship election is slated for May 20th throughout the country.
