Henry Gomez, Special Adviser to President Adama Barrow, has issued a stern warning to former President Yahya Jammeh, stating that should he return to The Gambia, he will be arrested, detained, and brought to justice.
“Those who are worried about Jammeh’s return should rest assured that he will not come back. Even if he does, we will tie him, put him in custody, and take him to court,” Gomez declared.
Gomez emphasized that the matter transcends political parties or individual leaders. “This is not about President Barrow or the NPP. It is not about the UDP, NRP, or GPDP. This is about The Gambia. We have moved past the days when anyone could destabilize the country with impunity. As a sovereign nation, there are certain actions we cannot tolerate. Gambians must understand that.”
Reflecting on Jammeh’s legacy, Gomez criticized the former leader for failing to show remorse. “There are still people in The Gambia who are mourning because of the actions of Jammeh’s regime. If he had any sympathy, he would have apologized to the Gambian people instead of attempting to intimidate anyone,” Gomez added.
Henry Gomez, who also serves as the leader and Secretary General of The Gambia Party for Democracy and Progress (GPDP), reaffirmed the government’s commitment to upholding democracy, human rights, and justice in the country.
