Gambia’s Dr. Touray To Assume ECOWAS Commission Leadership Today

His Excellency Dr. Omar Alieu Touray is today set to assume the leadership of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) Commission in Abuja.
“There will be a change of Management at the ECOWAS Commission as the tenure of current Management led by H.E. Jean-Claude Kassi Brou comes to an end after four years.
“President Brou will be handing over to a new Management that will be led by Dr. Omar Alieu Touray from The Gambia, today, July 13, 2022, at the ECOWAS Commission Headquarters in Abuja, Nigeria,” ECOWAS said in a statement.
The other statutory appointees heading ECOWAS institutions will also be assuming office today, the statement added.
“ECOWAS will be moving from a Fifteen-man Commission to a Seven-man Commission with the New Management,” it said.
The new statutory appointees who will serve a period of four years, were named at the just concluded 61st Ordinary Session of the Authority of ECOWAS Heads of State and Government in Accra on 3rd July 2022.
