Statement By Gambians Against Looted Assets
After the information minister’s revelations on coffee time with Peter Gomez on Tuesday 20th May 2025, the nation was struck by a sad revelation about the sales of the former President’s forfeited assets by the Janneh commission.
The Minister of information, Dr. Ismaila Ceesay, revealed that the list published to the public by the state was misleading. He confirmed that the commission only presented a comprehensive report but the report never contained any list of buyers and sellers of the forfeited assets.
Due to this revelation, we condemn the government for misleading the Gambian people and equally, we totally reject the list that was published on 11th May, 2025.
We call on the government to publish the full list, comprehensive report presented to the government, and all other relevant documents of public interest. We will, in no time, demand the report and reject the list through every means necessary.
We will, without hesitation, mobilize all Gambians, across all regions, to take to the streets to reject the misleading list and demand for the full list and comprehensive report presented to the government.
We call on all Gambians to condemn the government for misleading the public by providing a fake list of buyers which was never presented to them by the commission.
