Dodou Jah, the former spokesperson of the Alliance for Patriotic Reorientation and Construction (APRC), who is now a member of the ruling National People’s Party (NPP), has cautioned political actors against actions that could undermine the integrity of the electoral process, as concerns mount over voter fraud allegations and rising political tensions ahead of the presidential elections.
Speaking during an appearance on Eye Africa TV, Mr. Jah urged restraint and adherence to the rule of law, saying all participants in the political arena must recognize and respect the equal rights of others.
“The right you have to do certain things, that is the right another person has. If a problem happens here, there will be no election. You who are in the opposition wanting a change of government, that will not happen,” he said.
Mr. Jah warned that unresolved disputes and unlawful political conduct, if not properly managed, risk undermining stability at a time when national attention is increasingly focused on the upcoming polls.
“All the incidents that I am hearing about, UDP is involved. The problem of Yahya Menteng: UDP reported him, and Tanji UDP was involved,” he said.
Mr. Jah also called on those seeking political office to pursue their ambitions through lawful and peaceful means, stressing the importance of patience and respect for due process.
“If you are looking for a position, it should be in conformity with the law, and you should be patient with the people,” he said.
