Alieu Nyang, a former National Assembly member candidate for Old Yundum Constituency and a businessman at the Latrikunka market has expressed disappointment in president Adama Barrow’s government for what he calls the rapid depreciation in the value of the Gambian Dalasi.

“5000 CFA which use to be D375 is now D510. This is not helping the businesses at all. It’s like we are just working for them because it’s so hard to gain profit and things will be more expensive in the market. The government needs to fix this problem as soon as possible if not our Dalasi won’t be anything. ‘Dafa gena Daanu rek’ (it will keep falling),” he told Kerr Fatou.

The former old Yundum Constituency National Assembly member candidate said the business Community is not happy with president Barrow’s Government after his interaction with some of them;

“The Business community Is not happy with the administration of Adama Barrow. Yesterday I met with a few business owners In The Gambia, and they all complained about Adama Barrow and his Administration due to the way foreign currency is exchanged for the value of the Dalasi. The Dalasi is depreciating while the CFA is appreciating daily. I believe the role of the central bank is highly important in this. It needs to look into this because the capital flight is of no good use for our country,” he said.

Alieu Nyang contested the last parliamentary elections for Old Yundum Constituency under the Citizens’ Alliance (CA) ticket. He is also a shop owner at Latrikunka market.
