By Ramatoulie Jawo
His Excellency, President Adama Barrow, said he appointed Badara Alieu Joof as the country’s Vice President based on his competency.
“We were together during the transitional period that was five years. Because of his competency, contributions, commitment, and Loyalty, that is why I appointed him as my Vice President, not Vice President alone, but my able Vice President.”
Barrow said.
President Barrow revealed that the late Badara Joof was very supportive of his government. “Late VP Joof really supported me. The journey was for us to work together and develop the country. Because it was promised that we will serve this country and impact the lives of the people of this country for another five years. That journey started in 2022 to 2026, but unfortunately, he is not able to make it,” he said.
The Gambian President made these remarks earlier today while sending his condolences to the family of the country’s late Vice President, Badara Joof, who passed away on Wednesday in India after a brief illness.
