Banjul Magistrates’ Court Orders Mayor Lowe, IEC To Appear

Banjul Magistrates’ Court ordered the Mayor of Banjul and the Independent Electoral Commission [IEC] to answer a claim against them on Monday at 9:30am.

Gambia Participates, Centre for Research and Policy Development [CRPD] and Abdou Aziz Gaye, Councillor for the Box Ba ward in Banjul have again filed a claim against the duo, over voter cards issued through attestation issued by Mayor Lowe.

The plaintiffs are claiming for an order striking-out and cancelling all voter cards issued by the IEC in Banjul that were supported by attestation forms issued and or endorsed by the mayor of Banjul.

They are also claiming for an order compelling the IEC to produce the list of all voter cards issued in Banjul that were supported by attestation forms issued and endorsed by the Mayor of Banjul,.

The trio are also claiming such further or other orders that the court deems fit to make under the circumstances, according to the order dated 16th September 2021.

Gambia Participates, Centre for Research and Policy Development [CRPD] and Abdou Aziz Gaye, Councillor for the Box Ba ward in Banjul in the past succeeded in a similar suit at High Court against the Mayor and the commission over the issuing of attestation by the Mayor.
