The Gambia Football Federation said in a statement that due to technical reasons, the chaterred flight that supposed to bring the Scorpions players to Banjul on yesterday [Monday] couldn’t leave Brussels as scheduled; but they are working with the flight operator to ensure that the flight arrives with the players on Tuesday [evening] evening.

“The Gambia Football Federation (GFF) regrets to inform the general public that, due to technical reasons, the chaterred flight that supposed to transport the Scorpions players to Banjul couldn’t leave Brussels as scheduled. However, the GFF in collaboration with the Ministry of Youth & Sports, is working tirelessly with the chartered [flight] operator to ensure that the flight arrives with the players [on] Tuesday, 23rd March, 2021 at 20:00GMT.”

Two days after their arrival, the Scorpions will on 25th March, take on Angola at home, and DR Congo on 29th March 2021, respectively in the AFCON qualifiers.

At least four points from a win and a draw from these encounters can see The Gambia through to their maiden appearance at the continental tournament.
