Musa Amul Nyassi seeking re-election in Foni Kansala has said that he is not a National Assembly Member who criticises a president.

“From 2017 to 2020 there is no village in Foni Kansala that doesn’t receive my donation sugar. However, these same Foni Kansala villages are saying I betrayed them. How did I betray them? They cannot answer. The other work of a National Assembly Member is to check on the government institutions whether they are doing their job well or not.

“The third one is to represent your people, to be their eyes, ears, and mouth. That’s why, if you are following me, I always talk about Foni, especially Foni Kansala. In addition, not only Foni and Foni Kansala but also I represented the Gambia. I am not a National Assembly Member who criticises a president. If I am to criticise a president, then it will be telling him solutions. When the Vice President laid the allegations against us, I stood firm. That day everyone was saying Amul is a good son,” he said.

On the rejection of the Draft constitution, Amul said he voted against it because there were laws that would not favour the citizens of The Gambia.

“They wanted to change laws that govern the country. But there is something underlying that does not favour the citizens. The Gambia is a religious country. Then I cannot be there and endorse laws that will empower homosexuality; or to endorse laws that will end the governing of the current president,” he concluded.

Musa Amul Nyassi made these comments while speaking to his people in the Foni Kansala constituency.
