The Governing Council of University of The Gambia has approved D12.6 million to purchase two new buses for students.

The students are also expecting another two new buses as a donation from President Barrow, according to a statement by the students’ union on Thursday.

“We wish to inform the general student body that the Governing Council of University of The Gambia has today 23rd September 2021, finally approved D12.6 million to purchase two new buses for students. This was in response to the protest demands.

“Accordingly, the UTG procurement department and facilities are required to take necessary actions for purchasing the buses in 90 days. This is different from the two other buses expected to be donated by HE President Adama Barrow on Monday. This will amount it to four buses all together,” the statement said on 23rd September 2021.

The development followed a peaceful protest by the students demanding for better facilities at the University including buses for their transport.
