The Chief of Kiang West, Lamin Drammeh, has expressed his support for President Adama Barrow ahead of the 2026 presidential election during the inauguration of the Kiang West Road, citing satisfaction with ongoing development initiatives implemented by the current administration.

Chief Drammeh stated that the community deeply appreciates the government’s efforts, particularly in addressing long-standing infrastructure needs.

“We owe the President for what he has done for us here. These are the kinds of developments our ancestors longed for but did not see. Today, the President has made it possible for us,” he said.

He further affirmed that the people of Kiang West are prepared to support President Barrow in the upcoming elections scheduled for December 5, 2026.

“Kiang West is making a commitment today. Whatever may have happened in the past, on December 5th, 2026, Barrow will be the choice from Kiang West. We acknowledge what has been done, and we will reciprocate on election day,” he added.

The Chief noted that the administration has delivered on key promises to the district, with particular emphasis on road infrastructure development.

“There is a strong relationship between the president and us. He is fulfilling his promises to the people of Kiang West. Numerous projects have been initiated, and the road network has significantly improved access for our communities,” he said.

While commending the progress made, Chief Drammeh also appealed for continued development support in critical sectors, including road construction, electricity, education, and agriculture.

“We still need assistance with the construction of remaining roads in Kiang West and the provision of electricity to communities that are not yet connected,” he said.

He also called for the establishment of university campuses in the area and increased support for fishing and agricultural equipment, emphasizing the importance of job creation for young people.

“We also need support in providing fishing boats and related equipment to create employment opportunities for our youth, so they can remain in Kiang instead of migrating to Kombo,” he added.
