President Adama Barrow has expressed concern over delays in the construction of the Jambanjelly–Gunjur road, noting that the project has fallen significantly behind schedule despite clear government targets.

Speaking during an inspection tour of ongoing development projects in the Kanifing Municipality and the West Coast Region, President Barrow said he was dissatisfied with the pace of work on the 18-kilometre road, which was expected to be completed before June.

“I was really disappointed with the Jambanjelly to Gunjur road. We set a target to complete the project before June, but very little has been done so far,” the president said.

He stressed that the government is deeply concerned about the delay and underscored the importance of completing the project within the agreed timeframe.

President Barrow added that he would personally engage both the contractor and the Ministry of Works to address the challenges affecting the project and ensure it is brought back on track.

“I will take time out of my busy schedule to meet with the contractor and the ministry so that we can review the situation and move the project forward,” he said.
