The Organisation of Islamic Cooperation, Gambia Secretariat, contractors and consultants inspected the site allocated for the construction of the 5-star hotel for the OIC summit.

The visit by the Secretariat and partners followed the signing of the concession agreement in April this year, between Immo Land Sarl and The Gambia Government for the construction of the hotel in preparation for the OIC Summit.

The concessionaire (IMMOLAND) and a team of technical experts, and relevant stakeholders accompanied the Secretariat to the land allocated for the building of the infrastructure.

Mr Yankuba Dibba, Chief Executive Officer OIC Gambia said there has been an administrative backwards and forwards in terms of getting things in place; but they are elated to have signed the contract with a distinguished party of professionals from Senegal, Turkey and South Africa.

“We are very happy because today marks a very significant day in terms of our journey towards the realisation of the 5-star hotel for the OIC summit. This hotel is long overdue and we would very much be appreciative of all the efforts you can bring to make sure that we accelerate, of course, not at the expense of quality. We accelerated the process of delivering on this promise. This is huge not only to The Gambia; it’s a promise on behalf of 57 countries worldwide. We are hopeful that this particular hotel would be a world-class hotel that the Gambia also can boost of. This is the single biggest OIC project. This is something we have to cherish and something we are proud of,” OIC Gambia CEO said.

Mr Abdoulie Thiam, contractor and CEO of Immo Land Sarl Construction Company assured that his team would take the project very seriously to meet the expectations of Gambians.

“‘Insha Allah’ (God willing), we are going to take this project very seriously. That is why we decided to come to The Gambia with our team of architects, consultants and Construction Company. So this is a very serious project and we believe ‘Insha Allah’ we will achieve all expectations from the Gambia Government and other countries in the OIC,” Thiam said.

Mr Andrew Stockil, Founder and Director of Nuvo Consulting, the consultant for the 5 star hotel project said they were very much excited upon receiving the project concept from the CEO of Immo Land Sarl construction company.

“We do projects in the building because we love the results. When the concept was sent to me and the rest of the team, we all saw the wonderful development they planned. We were all very excited to come and work on this hotel. We built buildings we want to see in 30 years being successful. This is a wonderful design and is a wonderful project. We are all excited to produce a product for the OIC, Chairman Immorland, for the edifice to run for many years, and for it to benefit Gambian people,” he said.

Meanwhile, R. Tolga Baburoglu, Deputy Chairman, ERSA Construction Company said they are so privileged and honoured to be given this opportunity as a construction team and a consultancy team.

“We have come here with the best of the best from South Africa, who has given the sweat in Africa doing many hospitality projects. These people are not foreign to Africa and not foreign to The Gambia. So, this project is really very exciting for us. We are known as a construction company, as hotel owners, hotel investors and hotel builders. As a team, we have built over 100 hotels in the world, partly we own. Therefore we believe that we would give the best quality and the best time under the Raddison group,” he said.

Providing a luxurious accommodation experience to the guests during the global convergence is one of the main priorities of the Secretariat and the government. Similarly, such an edifice would reinforce the preeminent position of our country as a go-to tourist destination as well as a hub for international meetings, incentive travels, conferences, and exhibitions.
