UDP selects Alhagie S. Darbo as Minority Leader of the National Assembly.

Following the recently conducted National Assembly elections and the subsequent swearing-in of the duly elected, and nominated National Assembly Members for the Sixth Legislature of the National Assembly of The Gambia, the United Democratic Party (UDP) has selected Alagie S. Darboe, as the Minority Leader of the National Assembly, Madi M.K Ceesay, as Deputy Minority Leader and Hon. Sulayman Saho – Chief Whip.

The party made these announcements in a letter written to the Clerk of the National Assembly of The Gambia on Tuesday, April 19th, 2022.
The letter, signed by the party’s Secretary-General and party Leader read in part,

“I write to confirm that the following National Assembly Members have been selected as follows:

  1. Hon. Alhagie S Darbo – Minority Leader
  2. Hon. Madi M.K Ceesay -Deputy Minority Leader
  3. Hon. Sulayman Saho – Chief Whip

I thank you for your kind attention on this matter.”

In related news, the National People’s Party (NPP), last week, also selected the National Assembly Member for Kantora Constituency, Bellay G Tunkara as the new Majority leader of the house, National Assembly Member for Old Yundum Constituency Ablie Ceesay as his deputy, and Hon. Omar Darboe, Member for Upper Niumi as the Chief Whip.
